Since its establishment in 1918, Koers has developed into an innovative and versatile specialist in the GWW sector. Not only when it comes to the physical construction and maintenance of roads, recreational paths, parking lots and land consolidation roads, among others. With its own trading, transport and R&D departments, the family business also adds welcome values in other areas. It is no wonder that Koers' solutions are becoming increasingly popular with a diverse group of clients. The program of environmentally friendly semisurfacing makes a significant contribution to this.
Hoogersmilde-based Koers is firmly on the map in the GWW industry. The basis for this is partly formed by a total assortment of around 300 articles. Some of these products are used for paving, semi-paving or agricultural applications and are developed and produced in-house according to the cradle-to-cradle principle. To this end, Koers has its own sand extraction plant, a rubble crushing plant, a washer and a computer-controlled and recently completely CO2-neutral mixing plant. These facilities have contributed greatly to the company's growth in recent years into a leading developer and producer. Especially in the field of semi-paving, a branch of sport in which Koers can safely call itself a leader in the Netherlands. "We still focus daily on further improving and optimizing our products," says Jakob Baar, account manager for North and Central Netherlands. "In terms of composition, properties and applications. From good to better and from better to best: that is our aim."
Because of their sustainable nature, semi-paving products are often used to renew existing shell, concrete or asphalt paths. "Semi-paving is low maintenance, easy to walk on and environmentally friendly," lists Baar. "For example, most of our semi-paving products are water- and air-permeable and combat heat stress. Furthermore, they have a high bearing capacity, a natural appearance and a self-healing ability." All of this makes them ideally suited for walking and cycling paths, parking lots, tree pits and even golf courses, among other things. Whatever the application, within its own production facility, the company can make any Koersmix, regardless of the desired mix ratio. So clients are always assured of customization. "In addition to a number of standard semi-paved surfaces, we have also been offering various BIO variants for several years," continues Baar. "Mixing stone types with biopolymers creates a durable and even higher quality product that is perfectly suited for use on more heavily loaded roads and driveways."
The semi-paved surfaces of Koers:
DurEko mix®: as a replacement for shells ideal for hiking and biking trails.
DurEko mix® BIO: thanks to its higher carrying capacity, suitable for more heavily loaded roads.
KoMex®: versatile semi-paving for recreational applications, available in four colors.
KoMex® BIO: the semi-paving solution for paths and roads with excellent durability properties.
KoTRec BIO: durable, closed semi-paving for added strength and load-bearing capacity.
Hydraulic sand: gives intensively used dirt roads a natural look.
Dual solution
With the updated version of the circular KoMex® Red presents Koers with its most current novelty during Infra Relation Days. "This variant is permeable to water and heats up less than asphalt," says Baar. "That makes this semi-paving an ideal and future-proof solution, especially in inner cities. Moreover, the new KoMex® Red even stronger and harder than its predecessor."
