The Alliance Markermeer Dikes is committed to working with local companies as much as possible when reinforcing the more than 33 kilometers of dikes between Hoorn and Durgerdam. It could hardly be closer than contractor and machine rental company Huiberts BV. The Cumela company is located in the heart of the dike reinforcement, right next to the Alliance's temporary premises, and knows the area like no other.
Huiberts is a specialist in green, soil and infra. "We are active in the field of earthwork, shoring work, dredging work and cultural engineering work," says owner Kees Huiberts, who is also a board member of Cumela Noord-Holland, the trade association for specialists in green, soil and infra. "Reinforcing the Markermeer dikes does constitute a special project for us. It's literally in our backyard. Moreover, the Alliance's main office is situated on the neighboring site that we sold to the Waterland municipality some time ago. So we literally and figuratively have a bridge with the Alliance and rent out earthmoving machines with operator on a directional basis for this project."
Depending on demand and availability, Huiberts schedules people and equipment on the project. "We have been involved in the project since 2019, so from the very beginning. A big advantage is that we have qualified personnel with tremendous area knowledge. Area knowledge is important in our sector, as is keeping appointments." Huiberts BV is certified by Aboma for VCA* and CO2 Performance Ladder at level 5, certified by TÜV for PSO step 2 and is an approved training company for the SOMA (machinist training) in Harderwijk.
