Engcon launches lighter fork holder

Gives better visibility and increases the payload of excavators

Engcon the world's largest manufacturer of rotary tilt attachments that increase excavator efficiency is now launching a lighter version of its hydraulic fork holder. That means better tilt loading and greater payload for excavators in the 6-12 ton medium class.

Fork holders for excavators are an increasingly popular tool, and when combined with a swivel tilt, the benefits increase significantly. In many cases, the excavator replaces a wheel loader or truck because it can load and unload goods onto trucks, lift pallets of goods onto construction sites, etc. Thanks to the rotary tilt, the excavator does not need to be at the same level as the pallet to be lifted, because the forks can be tilted and rotated to the correct position. It also does not require the same space as when a wheel loader or truck needs to load or unload, because the excavator can stand in the same place for loading and unloading.

"Given the increased use of fork holders for excavators, we also observe a greater need to adapt them to smaller excavators. For this we have developed the GHH1200L (Light)," says Johan Johansson, structural engineer at Engcon.

Johan Johansson explains that the emphasis on increased payload is both capacity and safety:

"Our new fork holder is more than 100 kg lighter than its predecessor, which is a significant difference for a 6-ton excavator that uses the full reach of the excavator. Not only is the new fork holder lighter, but visibility has been improved by lowering the frame compared to its predecessor.

Engcon's new and lighter fork holder, the GHH1200L, will be built in two versions. One with a maximum load of 2,900 kg and a version with a payload of 4,700 kg. Both are calculated for TP500 (max load 500 mm on the fork) and standard QS45 swivel, but can also be ordered with other attachments. The GHH1200L has hydraulic steering of the forks and is prepared as standard for the automatic oil clutch EC oil.

The launch will take place in conjunction with Bauma 2019 in Munich from April 8-14, and the fork holder will be available for immediate order then.
